Purpose:
Has overall strategic and day to day responsibility for the operations in a Branch. Manage the staff of the department in order to provide high quality service to customers while meeting the goals of the company.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and implement customer service, quality, and budget goals in accordance with customer and branch objectives; Prepare quotations in distribution department based on customer requirements; Monitor performance of branch operations staff to ensure timely deliveries and excellent customer service with no damages, losses or misdirected shipments; Effectively, professionally and respectfully manage, motivate and communicate with subordinate staff to promote teamwork in a safe and secure work environment, and ensure consistent compliance with Corporate and Branch policies and procedures; Perform training needs analysis as required to develop and implement training and cross-utilization programs to maximize staff productivity and cost efficiency; Ensure that sub-departments (Shipping, Receiving, Picking, Packing, & Loading) are working together as one team, and that the workload and overtime opportunities are fairly distributed; Analyze and respond to employee suggestions for operations improvements; Listen to and resolve employee complaints with assistance from Human Resources as required; Monitor performance and costs of vendors, including truckers, and take corrective measures as required; Ensure that inventory is performed accurately and with the utmost integrity; Prepare accurate and timely reports of activities and performance measurements to the Branch AGM and GM; and perform other assigned general business support functions. "Hands-on" type of manager, going around the warehouse regularly as necessary for the safe & successful handling of daily operation.
