Responsibilities

 Purpose: 

 

Purpose: 

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing and supervising personnel and business activities of the Warehouse(CFS, Warehouse, Dispatch) under guidance of the General Manager and Deputy General Manager. Responsible for overseeing all Warehouse functions including receiving, storage, inventory control, pick pack, customer service, purchasing, customer service, P & L, budgeting, safety & security, Coordinate with Sales, Operations Planning, Information Systems and Administration to ensure proper staffing and the ability to handle daily customer demand on a consistent basis.

  

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan and implement customer service, quality, and budget goals in accordance with customer and branch objectives; Prepare quotations in distribution department based on customer requirements; Monitor performance of branch operations staff to ensure timely deliveries and excellent customer service with no damages, losses or misdirected shipments;  Effectively, professionally and respectfully manage, motivate and communicate with subordinate staff to promote teamwork in a safe and secure work environment, and ensure consistent compliance with Corporate and Branch policies and procedures;  Perform training needs analysis as required to develop and implement training and cross-utilization programs to maximize staff productivity and cost efficiency;  Ensure that sub-departments (Shipping, Receiving, Picking, Packing, & Loading) are working together as one team, and that the workload and overtime opportunities are fairly distributed;  Analyze and respond to employee suggestions for operations improvements;  Listen to and resolve employee complaints with assistance from Human Resources as required;  Monitor performance and costs of vendors, including truckers, and take corrective measures as required;  Ensure that inventory is performed accurately and with the utmost integrity; Prepare accurate and timely reports of activities and performance measurements to the Branch AGM and GM;  and perform other assigned general business support functions. "Hands-on" type of manager, going around the warehouse regularly as necessary for the safe & successful handling of daily operation.

Minimum Requirements: Education, Experience and Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 7 Years’ Distribution / Warehouse Operations and Inventory management Experience, with capability and initiative to accomplish Management responsibilities with little direct supervision
  • Minimum of 5 Years’ supervisory management experience over a group of subordinates

Essential Duties:

 

    • Prepare and implement the functional target and plan based on branch/department target and plan.

     

    • Revenue, Cost, Profit Responsibility – Warehouse manager has 100% Responsibility for Warehouse, CFS, Dispatch.
      • Directs the efficient and cost-effective lay-out, organization and operation of the warehouse.
      • Manages inbound activities related to the receipt and storage of goods, inventory management and claims.
      • Manages outbound activities related to order filling, pick pack, stock replenishment and shipping.
      • Responsible for budgeting, customer service, facility, and equipment operation.
      • Administers overall inventory management, productivity, accuracy, and loss prevention to ensure that customer requirements are met.
      • Prepare quotations, consider revenue/profit/loss simulations, and propose the service to customers.
      • Attend and arrange daily / weekly meeting with employee.
      • Understanding Nippon Express Warehouse Management Systems (Rewards).

     

    • Safety Responsibilities – Ensures the security and safety of the personnel and facility.

    Responsible for safety as a Site safety administrator (required by ISO).

      • Kaizen Activities expectations
        • Create the countermeasure when the shipping errors happen
        • 5S activities
        • SOP improvement includes EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)

     

    • Compliance Responsibilities – Ensures the requirement from US customs, DOT (Department of Transportation), TSA (Transportation Security Administration),C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism), Dangerous Goods Regulation, TAPA (The Transported Asset Protection Association) and other related regulations.      
      • US customs – Management of customs bonded area, Communications with customs officers when customs inspections and other related issues are required.
      • DOT Administrator --- Understanding DOT regulation completely and monitor the drivers, and equipment.
      • TSA Facilitator – Understanding TSA regulation completely and monitor the employees, facility, and the process in the warehouse.

     

    • Employee management Responsibilities --- Ensure all levels of the department are following company policies.
      • Creates and maintains positive work environment for all employees.
      • Hires, supervises trains and manages performance of Warehouse employees.
      • Manage all personnel activities within the department. Including below
        • Timecard Approval for both of full time staff and temp staff
        • Recruiting Activities

     

    • Working time is Monday thru Friday 9:00 AM~6:00 PM

    Saturday, Sunday and holiday --- work depends on business requirement.

Technical

 

  • Anticipate, research and report on future changes in import laws and in relevant practices, and ensure such knowledge is factored into the planning of the department’s strategy, resources and procedures.
  • Manage warehousing and distribution activities.
  • Communication with other departments in order to establish and maintain effective and relevant operations activities and support in relation to NEU’s sales, purchasing and operating functions.
  • Communicate with outside import related authorities and agencies as needed.
  • Communicate with customers regarding issues, new service, etc. Visit customers in order to develop good relationships and to acquire important information that may affect future business. Prepare customer quotations, or give approval to ones prepared by sales staff.
  • Generate reports and analyze various types of data such as revenue, costs, volume, trends, etc. Reports should be useful to upper management as well as understanding the status of the department.
  • Research, plan and implement transportation methods. May also coordinate with Traffic department in larger branches  
  • Responsible for Account Receivable (All accounts) to make sure unpaid invoices will be paid in timely manner.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements, Education, and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Warehousing/Distribution and/or Business Administration.
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years in Logistics Management and 5 to 10 total years in Logistics and/or Business Administration.
    • Must be able to demonstrate effective leadership in managing warehouse.
    • Knowledge of material handling, warehouse operations and transportation systems
    • Strong working knowledge of automated inventory control and warehouse management systems.
    • Effective communicator, written and verbal with diverse workforce and customer groups.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, One Drive and CRM Software.
    • Required Skill Set
      • Experience in warehouse management including Safety activities, TSA, DOT.
      • Strong Communication skills – ability to conduct meetings / GRI discussion with customers
      • High level of negotiating skills – ability to negotiate global contracts and processes
      • Strong coaching skills. Coach and mentor warehouse/CFS/Dispatch members.

Supervises:

  • Supervise personnel/business activities and staff within the department, and provide goals, guidance, resources, training and other support to allow the staff perform at a high level. This includes performance management.
  • Plan/organize the department, and achieve a goal include increasing Revenue, cost saving (analysis of cost and negotiate with subcontractors.)

Salary Pay Range:

 

$85,000 - $95,000 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.  At NEU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
