Responsibilities

 

Purpose: 

Plan, manage, and coordinate human resource activities of an organization to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as employee compensation, recruitment, personnel policies, and regulatory compliance.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Review and update HR and employee related forms to ensure forms are current and compliant, and all company related entities are using current and consistent forms.
  • Assist with developing and implementing training and onboarding programs.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits, including health and dental, 401k, PTO, FMLA, and general employee personnel issues.
  • Assist Managers with recruitment and interview process, including phone screens, posting job ads, scheduling applicants, sending application information, and gathering feedback as necessary.
  • Schedule and conduct new employee orientation activities including meeting arrangements, compilation of new hire paperwork, and overview of timekeeping and payroll systems.
  • Input new employee information into payroll and timekeeping systems to create employee record.
  • Provides support and interpretation of policies and procedures to employees and managers.
  • Manage employee relations process for the branch:
  • Assuring fair resolution of issues.
  • Conduct investigations.
  • Must inform Regional HR of issues that require higher management levels of resolution.
  • Ensure branch compliance with all applicable Employment Laws and Regulations.
  • Address any concerns or complaints from employees and management (generate time and attendance reports, conduct investigations, draft letters of expectations/memos with managers, coach managers on practical strategies and effective decision making.)
  • Manage Worker's Compensation claims.
  • Manage employee Sun Life FMLA requests.
  • Prepare corrective Action notices based on employee performance/behavior at the request of management.
  • Full cycle recruiting including managing workflow process and requisitions in iCIMS (create/close requisitions).
  • Verify I-9 documentation and maintain file.
  • Assist with creating personnel files using electronic file system.
  • Responsibility for temporary agency management:
    • Confirm orientation checklists through the agency.
    • Send any incident reports to the staffing agency involving temp agent incidents.
    • Ensure corrective action notices are being processed as appropriate.
    • Monitor Attendance 
  • Administer compensation, benefits, and performance management systems, safety, and associate appreciation programs.
  • Identify staffing vacancies and recruit, interview, and select applicants.
  • Ensure appropriate matches between the various departments and individuals newly hired, promoted, and transferred to those departments.
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefits.
  • Payroll Processing – Compile payroll data (i.e. hours worked from electronic timekeeping system) and input HR/payroll data and tracks the monthly and bi-weekly payroll and timecard cycle.
  • Review wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate payroll reports for accounting department.
  • Assist with maintaining file system and files correspondence and other records.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and assists with planning company events.
  • Advise managers on organizational policy and compliance matters.
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
  • Responsible for developing, managing, and enhancing a variety of training and development programs and other programs as assigned.
  • Assist RHR Manager with projects and assignments as needed.
  • Provides consultative support to management for the consistent and appropriate application of policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest level of integrity, professionalism, fairness, and confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in human resources or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years in similar HR Generalist position with payroll and benefits administration.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • 2 to 3 years using web based electronic payroll systems.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills necessary to communicate and work effectively with management and co-workers

Organization Relationships:

  • This position interacts with all levels of employees at the Branch, Regional Administration HR, Head Office HR & Legal.
  • Must be comfortable and effective in working with local employees as well as rotational staff.
  • May work with Federal & State Government Agencies

 

Work Environment:

  • This position requires physical demands to include, but not limited to standing, walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and carrying heavy objects repeatedly.
  • Warehouse environment may be noisy and subject to varying temperatures.
  • Will work alongside drivers who are moving pallets on different types of forklifts.
