Responsibilities

Purpose: 

 

Own and lead all aspects of the trade lane, including volume growth, customer relations and lane regulations.
The Trade Lane Manager will develop the trade lane by monitoring space, price, and service to meet the customer’s requirements. The TLM is a connecting entity between sales, product, and operations.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Full leadership of all aspects of the Trade Lane development
  • Ensure that the company has the proper conditions to develop the lane.
  • Conduct market research and analysis
  • Together with product, analyze the offer of carriers for a specific lane and propose the most convenient ones
  • Maintain commercial relations with carriers and service providers
  • Analyze routes and propose the safest and most efficient ones
  • Conduct rate analysis
  • Request rates to product and participate in negotiations with carriers
  • Monitoring volume growth on the assigned routes
  • Provide training to sales and other departments on new services and products related to the lane
  • Provide support technical information of the lane: regulations, restrictions, etc
  • Interact with operations dpt to ensure that processes are ideal for the development of the lane
  • Design sales campaigns and promotions to develop the route
  • Follow up on negotiations carried out jointly with sales executives
  • Create and maintain statistics related to the lanes
  • Maintain good relations with key customers
  • Together with sales, create and maintain pipeline of target customers
  • Prepare reporting related to lane activity: volumes, customers, etc
  • Provide visibility to the organization on relevant topics related to the lane
  • Conduct Consignee Sales Trips if require
  • Keep track of CST activities and results, close the CST cycle
  • Provide support to visitor TLM on the arrangement of sales calls
  • Support Commercial department on sales calls and activities
  • Manage incentive program by lane
  • Sales Leads administration for assigned lanes
  • Conduct RFQ analysis, participate on RFQ strategy and pricing solutions
  • To be multi-dimensional and able to work with stakeholders within and outside of the division, such as Sales, Product, and Finance.
  • Work together with branches, gateway, and other regions closely to develop the trade lane.
  • Acquire and maintain a deep understanding of best-in-class market offerings and customer requirements for the geography as the subject matter expert, share the knowledge with sales team.

Salary: $76,020  $113,004

 

 

This salary range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on various factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs, and other considerations permitted by law.  At NEU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements, Education, and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience working for a Shipping Line and/or Freight Forwarder,
  • Strong experience  in Trade/Line Management will be strongly considered
  • Business Degree (MBA is an advantage)
  • Proficiency Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Result Oriented
  • Proven commercial expertise and strong business acumen
  • Proficient in English (written, spoken). Mandarin is an advantage.
