Purpose

Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Import Agent specializing in air freight to join our team in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and transportation, with a focus on air freight import operations. This role requires a proactive individual who can efficiently manage the import process, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the importation of air freight shipments from origin to destination.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant customs regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Communicate with airlines, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth import operations.
  • Prepare and review import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
  • Track and monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by keeping clients informed of shipment status and addressing any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of import transactions and update internal systems as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in import regulations and industry best practices.
  • Special Duties may be assigned based on the needs of management. Your future assignments will depend on the needs of the department, your performance and capabilities
  • Salary $23.00 to $26.00.  This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs, and other considerations permitted by law.  At NEU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role. 

Qualifications

  • GED or equivalent education required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in import/export operations, with a focus on air freight.
  • Basic knowledge of customs regulations, import documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics software (e.g., Webcargo, Cargowise, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with global logistics companies.
  • Solid understanding of global trade.
  • Knowledge of general import regulations and requirements.

Organization Relationships:

  • This position will report to a Supervisor/Manager.
  • This position does not directly supervise any staff.
